The restoration begins

So after the car purchase we became a weekend warriors and stated to work on the cars. First step is to completely disassemble the car which takes couple of weekends.
We started with front body panels. Fenders, hood, headlights...went out. The hood was completely rusty and needs to be replaced for the new one.
We removed the front Mach 1 grille . As it is cracked it will be replaced for the new one as well. Next , the interior. We started with the simple part the radio...
Whole dash is out after disconnecting all wiring and removing support brackets. Removed the side windows and doors. The windshield has a big crack in the lower area and is glued into the windows frame. We use the string to cut the glue. Other glasses are likely in rubber weatherstripe and came more easily out. I will replace all rubber parts anyway.
Removed seats. And rear seat as well.
Complete view of strip down interior. You can see a rust cancer in the floor panels.. Tha back is no better. We expect a lot of welding to be done here.
Now we move to the engine compartment and pull the 302 engine. First disconnected all wiring carburator linkage, starter motor and alternator. Then disconnect from the transmission . Then pulled out. The weight of the engine is about 200 kgs. And fixed on the trolley to move easily around the workplace.
The C4 transmission is not an original to the car as the engine. Its aluminium body came out quite easily. It require just to disconnect the shifter linkage and oil cooling tubing from the radiator. Removing the rear brake hoses. as to rusty and damaged by the time its not functional now.
The 9 inch rear end axle is the next. Again all bushing and springs needs to be ordered as new one. The front suspension remains..
